Monk is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Monk AI Labs Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, and safeguards your information when you use the Monk mobile application and related services ("App" or "Services").

By using Monk, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect the minimum data needed to make Monk work for you.

a) Account Information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive your email address (or an anonymized relay email) through Firebase Authentication to create and manage your account.

b) Screen Time Data
With your permission, Monk uses Apple’s Screen Time APIs to track app usage and block distracting apps. Your Screen Time data stays on your device. It is never sent to our servers, shared, or sold.

c) Habits & Progress
The habits you select (e.g., “Practice deep breathing”) and your progress logs are securely stored in Firebase so you can sync across devices and personalize your experience.

d) Technical & Diagnostic Information
We may collect anonymous data such as crash reports, device type, and app version via Crashlytics and analytics tools to fix bugs, improve performance, and ensure Monk works smoothly for you.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide core app functionality (habit reminders, focus reports, app-blocking).
  • Personalize your experience based on your chosen habits and goals.
  • Prevent fraud and maintain security.

We do not share this information with any advertisers or unrelated third parties.

4. Data Storage & Retention

  • Local Data: Stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
  • Cloud Data (Account, Habits, Progress): Stored securely in Google Firebase.
  • We keep this data for as long as your account is active.
  • You can delete your account anytime in Settings → Delete Account, which will permanently remove your personal data, except where retention is required by law (e.g., payment records).

5. Sharing of Information

We may share limited information only in these situations:

  1. Trusted Service Providers – e.g., Firebase for authentication and syncing, Google analytics for performance insights, and push notification providers for reminders and alerts.
  2. Legal Compliance – if required by law or to respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

We do not share your Screen Time data, habits, or progress logs with advertisers.

6. Your Choices & Controls

  • Permissions: You can revoke Screen Time, notification, or other permissions anytime via your device settings.
  • Account Deletion: Delete your account and associated data anytime through Profile Settings.
  • Local Data: Delete the app to remove any locally stored data.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure cloud storage. While no system can guarantee complete protection, we don't collect sensitive data and work hard to keep your data safe.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you via the App or email.
